The File Service Workflow
A typical ECU remapping file service follows a predictable workflow: the customer reads the ECU, uploads the original file, specifies what modifications they want, and you deliver the modified file. Simple in theory, complex in practice.
Step 1: Receiving the Original File
The customer reads the ECU using their tool (KESS3, KTag, Autotuner, etc.) and needs to send you the original file along with vehicle information. A proper file service platform captures all this data in a structured form: vehicle make, model, year, ECU type, reading method, and desired modifications.
Step 2: Processing and Modification
Once you receive the file, you open it in your tuning software, identify the maps, and apply the requested modifications. This is where your expertise matters. Keep detailed notes on what you changed for future reference.
Step 3: Quality Control
Before sending the modified file back, always verify your work. Check that only the intended maps were modified, verify checksum corrections, and ensure the file size matches the original.
Step 4: Delivery and Follow-Up
Upload the modified file and notify the customer. A good platform sends automatic email notifications and allows the customer to download directly from their portal. Follow up after installation to ensure everything works as expected.
Managing Multiple Requests
As your business grows, managing dozens of daily requests manually becomes impossible. A dashboard with status tracking, automatic notifications and a ticket system for customer support is essential. This is exactly what platforms like TuningFile provide out of the box.
