Where it fits into the work
WinOLS operates on the content of the file, it does not communicate with the car: the tuner reads the firmware from the ECU with a tool (KESS3, Autotuner, Bflash) in OBD, Bench or Boot, imports it as ORI, identifies the relevant maps (torque, rail pressure, advance, boost, injected quantity), applies the changes and recalculates the checksums before rewriting the MOD on the car.
Identification of maps and checksums
The strong points are the automatic recognition of the maps in the firmware, the ORI/MOD comparison and the project database, supported by the checksum plugins for the ECU family. It is the tool for those who develop low-level solutions, but remains complementary to the SaaS portals, which manage the part of the business (customers, credits, invoicing) that WinOLS does not cover.

WinOLS and a SaaS platform are not in competition but complementary: the first is used to develop low-level solutions, the second to manage customers, credits, payments and invoicing. Many tuners use WinOLS to create maps and a portal to distribute them to their customers and subdealers. For those who do not want to invest in licenses and training, the file service model allows access to ready solutions without directly mastering WinOLS.
In short, WinOLS remains the reference tool for those who develop maps, while portals cover the business: using them together, or relying on a file service, are two valid paths depending on how much you want to get into low-level work.
