Autotuner is an ECU reading/writing tool produced by the Belgian company Autotuner, considered one of the three standard professional chiptuning tools (along with KESS3 and MagicMotorsport Flex).

Pros and cons

Integration with platforms
Modern chiptuning portals such as TuningFile integrate Autotuner via API: from the portal you upload/download the ECU files without having to manually manage the protocols.
Mode Master and Slave
Autotuner exists in a Master version (reads and decodes the ECU autonomously) and a Slave version (writes only protected files generated by a coupled Master). This model is the basis of the relationship between tuner and subdealer: the Master prepares the file, encrypts it for a specific Slave and the dealer flashes it without being able to extract or reuse the content.
Autotuner vs KESS3
Autotuner (Belgian) and KESS3 by Alientech (Italian) are the two universal reference tools, with similar prices and coverage. The choice depends on the availability of the protocols for the most treated vehicles and on the preference for the payment system (fee or token). Many file services keep both to maximize coverage, especially on rare ECUs or industrial vehicles where one tool can cover what the other lacks.
Return on investment
To evaluate Autotuner it is best to think about the total cost: price of the device plus the protocol updates that are really needed. A workshop working on a few makes may find it expensive relative to the volume; a file service with continuous flow quickly pays for itself thanks to the coverage and speed of OBD operations. Cloud management, without physical keys, reduces downtime and operational block risks due to expired licenses.
